DID YOU KNOW?

In an earlier life Marcus performed alongside Dawn French, Jennifer Saunders and Robbie Coltrane in the cult comedy classic “Five Go Mad In Dorset”? …Watch out for the porter on the station platform at the start of the film!!! See here

Marcus is a fully qualified private pilot and regularly flies friends and other (brave) musicians around the Scottish hills..- it’s also a great way to get to gigs in far flung Scottish islands!

A recent addition to Marcus’ life is landscape photography and he has been known to dedicate many hours driving around Scotland to develop his skills. Check out some of his work here

BIOGRAPHY
Marcus Ford is one of the UK’s leading Finger-style guitarists. His driving rhythmic playing has seen him team up with a number of jazz ensembles and his versatility as a player enables him to feature in many styles of music and he has even crossed over into Opera!

As a solo player he has a cool, intimate style that is as tastefully luxurious as it is self-contained. He has honed and developed his solo repertoire from classic tunes such as “Mona Lisa”, “What A Wonderful World”, “Sunny” and “Someone to Watch Over Me” to his most recent tribute to the wonderful Edith Piaf in his beautifully sensitive and emotive rendering of: “Hymne à L’amour/Je ne Regrette rien” Over the years he has recorded and performed alongside some of the world’s top jazz artists including Jim Mullen and Martin Taylor.

Whilst it is tempting as a guitarist to emulate horn players with blistering single note runs, Marcus is influenced by a more orchestral approach afforded by the classical guitar. His tastefully luxurious tone, lush harmony, and full swinging sound have become a trademark of his playing and have won him growing acclaim from both fans and critics alike. Much in demand in the UK, he has most recently toured to China and Italy.
